Great base for touring Jeju with spacious family rooms
There are lots of great things to say about this hotel: The location just outside Seogwipo is excellent, our room was very spacious for three people and the views over the ocean from the room were spectacular. The rooftop pool is really well heated so it was nice to wind down in there even on a winter's day. The jacuzzi in the room was also a treat. The "secret garden walk" around the local area is beautiful and definitely not to be missed. A grocery store just over the road is handy for late night drinks and snacks.

On the downside the hotel has a slightly tired feel to it, the vibe being more "retired people on coach tours" rather than the "stylish boutique" that I think it is aiming for.

I thought the food in the restaurant was OK; the breakfast spread was quite limited although the steak and eggs was certainly a good start to the day and the waiting staff in there were lovely and extremely helpful; dinner was a little disappointing and we weren't inclined to repeat it after the first evening. That's no reason to be put off staying here though because there are plenty of excellent restaurants in the area including a few just a short walk down the road in Beophwan-dong. The small Italian place called "Stone", a couple of km away by taxi was a particular highlight. The nearby Halakeke cafe is also an amazing spot to visit for afternoon coffee and cake.

Overall I'm pleased that we stayed at the Goldone for our time in Jeju and I thought it was excellent value for money (as is Korea in general). I'd like to give it five stars but deducted one for their blatant offering of discounts for TripAdvisor reviews, which is clearly against Tripadvisor policy and may explain the large number of glowing reviews posted here.
